Ocean rock with spray at Rialto Beach

About

Take me to the beach. I want to lose myself in every rock I find.

After we return home, the poetry of covalent bonds continues to spray ever so slowly in “geologic time.” As I hold this unplanned beauty in the palm of my hand, its ebb and flow is stalled and still, a sourvenir of power and force.

Snapshots of an ocean, with movement slowed way down, caught, hard, and portable. And still they vibrate, inperceptable without special equipment.

This is nature’s canvas—beauty revealed in light, motion, and chemistry.

And so in this chaotic world, I remain delighted by interesting rocks that turn up at random times and in humble places. Finding them is like finding a new friend, special and unexpected on an otherwise gray afternoon, full of new secrets to discover.

Pressure and chemistry create a natural art that can shimmer on your wrist or around your neck, a quiet reminder of nature’s turbulent past.

Are there really energies and correspondences in stones? Or, are the colors and formations simply anchors we can use to remember what we want to change or achieve?

You decide. But my hope is that you find some simple enjoyment in a small portable piece of beauty, thoughtfully arranged with intent to bring you happiness and peace.
